Total= $17.53 not bad....but I wanted better.
So, here's how we arrived at our total of $7.53 along with some pointers.
1) When Aaron and I went up to the cashier, the cashier alerted us to the "NEW" coupon policy which is only 5 of the same coupon per transaction. (I was not happy!) The cashier had already rung up all our groceries so we had to cancel the transaction and separate our items and coupons into three different transactions. Every Target is different. Some may allow this.
2) We used a coupon from a past Target ad that gave you a $10 gift card when you filled a prescription. (This is how we arrived at our $7.53 total.) The prescription cost $4.00 which we put on our FSA card. (If you counted that $4 into the equation we spent $11.53 on the above purchase.
Just a side note...this is a GREAT way to make money. If you see a deal where you can fill or transfer a presciption and get a gift card...YOUR making money off the deal. If we had not used our FSA card when filling this prescription we still would have made $6 off the deal.
3) Some cashiers will let you have the overage on coupons as long as you don't go below $0. This is where filler items come in. If you suspect that your total will be close to $0...purchase a filler item. A filler item is a cheap item that you're not using a coupon for. This filler item will make it so you can come closer to $0 with little out of pocket. (I usually pick up a candy bar or a coke to make me fill better about dragging 5 kids around a store...by checkout I've pretty much reached my breaking point!!!)
If you have any questions, or your having problems with a link to a coupon...leave me a comment and your email and I will be glad to help!!!
Happy Shopping!!!
